Biography

Michael William Donovan Jr. is the Chief of the law enforcement division of the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office. Under his command, Chief Donovan is in charge of 124 sworn law enforcement personnel, 24 civilian employees and oversees a budget of over 11,000,000 dollars. The Sheriff's Office law enforcement division consists of a warrants division and fugitive task force, a criminal investigations bureau, a court security unit, a civil process unit, a canine unit and an id bureau. 

Chief Donovan has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement. He spent 23 years at the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office retiring as a lieutenant and 7 years with the Neptune City Police Department.  While at the prosecutor's office, Chief Donovan was responsible for the investigations of major crimes, internal affairs, narcotic law violations as well as other violations of the criminal codes.   

Chief Donovan is currently pursuing his Master's Degree at Farleigh Dickinson University. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Thomas Edison State College in Administration of Justice and has attended the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation-National Academy.
