10/01/09 - COMMUNICATIONS CENTER NOW PROVIDES ALL 9-1-1 SERVICES FOR FAIR HAVEN

The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce that Monmouth County's Communications Center will now be dispatching police and emergency services for the Borough of Fair Haven. The move became official on October 1, and saves taxpayers money by providing Monmouth County with $55,000 annually.

Monmouth County already answers 9-1-1 calls for Fair Haven, and now all services will be provided in one location. Fair Haven did not require any additional resources, no hiring needed to take place, nor did any new equipment need to be purchased. "This is another great example of shared services," said Sheriff Kim Guadagno. "The transition benefits taxpayers while providing the same or higher level of 9-1-1 services through the County."

Monmouth County's Communications Center, run by the Sheriff's Office, has a highly dedicated team of public safety telecommunicators. They serve the County 24 hours, seven days a week, and are emergency medical dispatchers, emergency communications officers and National Crime Information Computer terminal operators.

Monmouth County's Communications Center answers 9-1-1 calls for 44 towns, dispatches for 9 police departments and 33 fire and EMS crews.
